Roberta, Italy

Economist, researcher
Single
Mother of a 7-year-old girl

“I was an academic in the UK before, but the weather was so bad that I felt I had to go somewhere else. I applied for this job in Geneva and I got it! Four years after the separation, my daughter is fine and happy at school, but we, the parents, are still struggling with solving the key dilemma of sharing time with our daughter. The question is how to balance equal rights and duties between the parents without “cutting the child in half”!

Geneva, November 2015

In the meantime, I have taken up more responsibilities at work and manage a “small business” at home to make sure everyone (my daughter, myself and the dog) is looked after until I come home.”
